According to RIA Novosti agency, one of the employees of the Ministry of Finance explained that the resignation would most likely be accepted, because there were rumors earlier that there were serious claims to the work of Savatyugin. What reasons led the official to such a decision, neither he himself nor his colleagues in the ministry report. Some media believe that Savatyugin simply did not work with the new minister. Perhaps the reason for the resignation was conflicting relations with companies engaged in insurance activities, it was their work that was supervised by the deputy minister.
Information about the resignation of the deputy minister began to appear in the press back in the middle of this year, then, as his successor, the name of Sergey Barsukov was called, who is currently working as the head of the Department of Financial Policy. Alexey Savatyugin came to the post of deputy minister in January 2010, at that time the head of the ministry was still Alexei Kudrin. Before appointing a high post in the government, Savatyugin led the Ministry of Education of Financial Policy.
