Curtains, bedspreads, pillows, rugs – all this abundance is welcome in the Mediterranean style. And usually it is something bright – something that you can focus on.
But it’s important not to overdo it. For example, large canvases (curtains, tablecloths, carpets) are better to choose plain, natural shades and materials (linen, cotton). But on small objects – on mats, pillows, lampshades – you can walk around. Variegation and a combination of several colors at once are allowed. The Arabic variety should be dominated by Oriental patterns. Italian and Spanish styles involve embroidery, but you, as residents of Cyprus, can choose lefkaritika.
Bands and waves
These motifs predominate in the Mediterranean style, so their use is almost mandatory. But it is important to make them so that they do not attract all the attention.
It is best to implement stripes and wave-like patterns either on small objects or in calm tones. Then it will be possible to create an optimal balance and the right atmosphere.
Another element that allows you to save space and at the same time zone the room. Which is especially important if it is large.
For the Greek style, it is possible to use simple lattice screens or stationary “partitions”, and for the Arabic it is better to choose openwork carving with oriental motifs.
Also, a perforated partition can be part of furniture, for example, as a cabinet leaf or the back of a sofa. Of course, such an interior element needs to be custom–made, and it will not cost very cheap – but it will add a special charm to your home.
